1.)If ever a TV show needed a no-spoilers review it's this one. The
trouble is, everything's a spoiler when "Orphan Black" is
concerned, and the less you know going in, the more fun you'll have
with this show's onrushing tidal wave of plot twists and turns.
So--what can I tell you that will let you know whether you want to
see this or not without spilling all those beans? Well, I'll try.
2.) The trailers intrigued me, the plot seemed unlike anything that
had been done before, and within the first three minutes of the
premiere episode, I was completely hooked. The show has not
disappointed me once and the further into this world we go, the
more interesting, frustrating, and completely fascinating it
becomes. The lead actor, Tatiana Maslany, is a truly amazing,
talented actress, bringing life to each character she plays
convincingly, and in the process, brings forth a truly separate
persona for each character. It may look like Tatiana, but when
Allison Hendricks is onscreen, it's Allison onscreen, not Tatiana
Maslany trying to play a character named Allison, or Cosima, or
Sarah, or any of her other characters in the Orphan Black world.
Each of her characters is so different, and played so well, there's
just no convincing yourself that it's anyone but the character
onscreen. Lots of other actors these days seem to have one
character in them, and they play that one character over and over
no matter who, or how different, each character is supposed to be.
Add to that astounding talent of Ms. Maslany's, the solid talent of
all the other actors who play characters in the show, who help to
create a world that feels real. This is a show so well done it's
one in which the viewer's sense of disbelief is put aside easily
and keeps us coming back week after week.
To finish out here, major kudos go to the show's creators, who are
also the outstanding writing team, who keep us guessing and keep us
anticipating the next new episode. Excellent work, everyone!
